Bunk beds are great if you need two single beds and don't have the room. They are more suited for children, though not for tiny tots and come in styles ranging from the very simplest to more elaborate creations which are as much play frame as bed. You can also take them apart to use as single beds when the children get older and want their own room. You can get bunk beds that even fold up against the wall when not in use for further space saving.
Box beds are a Scottish oddity and are often found in cottages outside of the major metropolitan areas of Scotland. They consist of a wooden box big enough to hold a mattress, a roof, 4 sides and sliding panels. The term box in other countries is also sometimes used to describe a space saving bed that can fold up into a box.
